Yesterday I wrote about how we need to stand firm using Galatians 5:1 as my reference. Well, last night at Bible Study we talked about intercessory prayer and the importance of putting on the full armor of God. It was at that moment I discovered that Ephesians 6:13 implores us once again to stand firm.
I think God is trying to teach me something about standing firm and how it correlates with lasting freedom. In the English Standard Version (what I prefer to use) the phrase stand firm is found 15 times. That may not sound like a lot but when you compare it to other things like "stay faithful" (only found twice) and do not worry (found 9 times). We can truly start to see that standing firm is crucial to our success in following Christ. We can probably also assume by the repetition that it does not come naturally to us nor will it be easy. I pray for strength to stand firm in the face of adversity.
